Calgary Women's Update

Well, it’s that time of year... the sun is starting to shine, the grass is starting to green, the snow is continuing to fall... summer is practically upon us! And most importantly... the frisbees are starting to fly!

Been having fun at women’s spring league? Keen to get involved in more women’s ultimate (whether that means building your skills, traveling to out-of-town tournaments, etc.)? If so, then Wild Rose (Calgary’s competitive women’s ultimate team) strongly encourages you to do the following:
  • Continue visiting our blog – it’s your best one-shot source for Calgary women’s ultimate info.
  • Complete and submit this survey form by Tuesday, May 11 if you would like to practice or play tournaments with us this summer: http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dEVpR3M4RDdodFVOV2N0OWhzcFZEZ2c6MQ.
  • Sign up for the Wild Rose email list (send us an email at calgarywomensultimate@gmail.com to get added). This email list will only be used for general announcements – please continue checking here for the latest updates.

PRACTICES

Who: Open to ladies of any skill level.

When: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30pm-8:30pm, starting Tuesday, May 4.

What: Tuesdays will focus more on skills and drills. Thursdays will focus more on competitive play and strategies. Majority of practices leading up to Flowerbowl (see below) will be women’s only. However, a few Thursday practices will be coed to boost player numbers and benefit from the experience of the Calgary men’s team.

Where: Market Mall fields.

What if?: Any practice changes (e.g., location) or cancellations (due to weather) will be posted here, so please check regularly.

FLOWERBOWL

What:
Wild Rose’s first fun and competitive tournament of the year (more info here).

When: June 5-6, 2010

Where: Vancouver, BC

Who: If you are interested in attending with Wild Rose, please fill out our survey form. There are 10 Tuesday/Thursday practices between now and Flowerbowl. To attend Flowerbowl, we request you attend as many of those practices as possible, with the last four practices before the tournament being mandatory*. *Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis, so if you are interested in coming to Flowerbowl but are concerned about your practice availability, please get in touch with us anyway!
