Wild Rose Is Considering a Coach for 2012

Wild Rose, Calgary's competitive women's ultimate team, is considering using a non-player coach for the 2012 season. The coach would work in collaboration with the Wild Rose team captains to:
  • Develop and implement team strategies
  • Plan and run weekly team practices:
      • Mondays & Thursdays, 6:30-8:30 pm, from mid-April to mid-August
  • Work with the captains on team selection
  • Assess the strengths and weaknesses of the team and individual players; identifying areas for further development
  • Accompany the team to three (potentially four) tournaments:
      • Flowerbowl -- Vancouver, BC -- June 2-3
      • Kelowna KAOS -- Kelowna, BC -- July 7-8
      • Alberta Regionals and/or training weekend -- mid-July (TBD)
      • CUC 2012 -- Victoria, BC -- August 16-19
  • Identify and facilitate strategy within games and tournaments and make adjustments as needed
  • Call offensive and defensive lines
The coach must be able to commit to coaching for the season including attending most practices and tournaments. Attending and coaching at CUC 2012 in Victoria, BC August 16 - 19 is a must. Wild Rose will reimburse for any travel or accommodations expenses related to tournament travel. Ultimate frisbee knowledge and strong coaching ability are assets.

Wild Rose will consider a variety of factors when selecting a coach including: past frisbee experience, knowledge of the game, coaching ability, ability to work with individual players and manage personalities, ability to work with leadership team and captains, team goals & objectives for the season, and commitment.

The final decision will be based on the factors outlined above and the goals and objectives for the season. Final decisions on the team's plans for the season will be made by mid April.
