Info Session Recap

Here's the recap of what was discussed at the Calgary Womens Ultimate Information Session. Once you have read this information, we encourage all women to complete this short survey to indicate your interest for the season.

Focus and plan for the season
This year's season will be a combination of Development and Competitive. Calgary Women's Ultimate will be holding tryouts on Thursday, May 10 and Thursday, May 17 at 6:30 pm at the Market Mall fields. We are looking to take two teams to Flowerbowl (Vancouver: June 2-3). All are welcome to come and tryout.

If needed we will be making cuts prior to Flowerbowl, but given we would like to take two teams, we expect that all women who would like to participate in Flowerbowl will be able to join us.

Flowerbowl (Vancouver: June 2-3)
Our goal is to take two teams to Flowerbowl. This year we will be taking an A team which will play in the Elite Womens Division and a B team that will play in the Womens Division. This tournament is an excellent opportunity to get some play time and get a feeling for what playing a womens tournament is like. We will have dormitories booked, a team dinner on Saturday, and it has been a very positive and fun experience in the past.

Tryouts
Tryouts will be used both to make teams for Flowerbowl as well as for Canadian Ultimate Championships (CUC). If you are interested in playing CUC then we encourage you to try to attend both tryouts and Flowerbowl. However, we understand there are special cases so if you are not able to make it please let us know in the survey and we will do our best to accommodate. The CUC team will be selected based on skill, fit with the team, commitment and fitness.

Practices
Practices will be held on Monday evenings at Calgary Rugby Union and Thursday evenings at Market Mall fields. Everyone is welcome to attend practices until May 25, and then practices will be limited to women who are coming to Flowerbowl and/or interested in CUC and/or are on the practice roster. Following Flowerbowl the CUC team will be picked. Practices will be closed to the CUC team and a practice roster.

CUC (Victoria: Aug 16-19)
In addition to Flowerbowl, the CUC team will be attending the womens tournament in Kelowna (July 7-8). We are also looking at a training camp weekend in Canmore in July prior to CUC. We will be selecting 18-20 women for the CUC team.
